Baby Izabella | Raleigh North Carolina Newborn Photographer

Say hello to my gorgeous baby niece Izabella!!  She was born back in April but I was unable to fly out to Moore, Oklahoma until May when Izabella was already SIX weeks old!!  I had a colleague of mine from Yukon, Oklahoma (Hi Michelle!!!) meet up with me at Izabella’s house to help out with the session.  Since I had flown in, I had NO equipment but some blankets/headbands and my trusty camera and lenses.  Michelle was generous enough to bring her lighting gear and beanbag so that we could try our best shot at posing Izabella at such an old age (in the realm of newborn photography that is!).  Izabella slept very well but she was much more difficult to pose (she could never really get in that deep sleep that newborns do so well), she had terrible baby acne and had already started losing some of her hair. :(  Poor girl.  I was able to edit the baby acne (which was tedious) but hair is not something you can really edit.  Let’s just say headbands were a must!! ;)  You can also tell in some of the poses how much BIGGER she looks than a 6-12 day old newborn.  Just proof at how fast babies really do grow and how much they can change in just a few short weeks.  I just want to stress how important it is for you to book your newborn session while you are still pregnant to ensure your baby is photographed under 2 weeks of age.  I have had to turn away a lot of babies this summer due to being booked already (even those that tried to book a few weeks in advance).  I felt terrible having to turn them down because the girls I refer to were ALSO booked.  As of this post (August 5th, 2013), I still have some Fall availability left for newborn sessions.  They will surely fill up fast so please contact me as soon as possible to book your session. :)

Oklahoma was a wonderful trip.  I got to give the gift of photography to my only brother.  Five years ago when my nephew was born, I had literally just bought my DLSR that trip from Best Buy (A Canon Rebel XSi) so I could take pictures of him.  My style and skill is obviously quite different 5 years later, but my nephew Cayden was my first newborn subject EVER.  Izabella’s session will be just as memorable as I left the morning of the big F5 tornado that hit Moore.  In fact, I was supposed to leave the night before, but the storms were so bad and there were so many delays, I had them change my flight to first thing that Monday morning.  That afternoon an F5 historical tornado leveled parts of Moore, OK.  Two blocks from my brothers home was the Elementary school where multiple children lost their lives.  Thankfully, my family was safe and they only had minor roof damage and a fence blown over.  Being there in the days before was scary as well.  We were in the tornado shelter multiple times that Sunday night and I had a tough time sleeping!!  I can’t wait to see my niece again but hopefully they will come to Raleigh, North Carolina next time around! ;)
