O.M.G.! Just look at those deep dark big beautiful brown eyes!! This is Benjamin. You may remember him from January’s post as my first newborn baby of 2012! Well here is this little cutie at 8 months and looking quite adorable here with his owl tie that his mommy bought for him. What a fun and easy session! Benjamin is such a happy little boy and was eager to smile for the camera (or his parents behind me). ;) I love his joyful eye contact here. Definitely one of my favorite images from his mini session. I will be sure to post more soon!
Many people like to get mini sessions done by age (usually 6 months and 1 year) but I recommend that you go more by milestone. For a “6 Month” session, babies photograph better when they are able to sit up well on their own (or even with a spotter nearby in case they have the occasional “oops” while sitting). This typically happens around 6-8 months but every baby is different. I usually soft schedule the session on their 6 month “birthday” and then let the parents decide when they are ready to bring their little one in based on their physical progression. For the 1 year session though, it’s nice to do it right at or a few weeks after they turn 1. I usually include some sort of cake smash at the end (or cupcake!) to celebrate that huge 1 year mark. To read about my Baby Plan options, check out the investment tab in the main menu.
I do photograph babies and children older than 1 and I find my clients like to come back to me for their children even as they hit 2 and 3 or usually during the holiday season to update their family portraits. I will be announcing mini sessions VERY soon. I have held off on this to try and create exciting packages and choose a new location. I think I may have everything ready to go and will be announcing these mini sessions to my mailing list subscribers first (see the info menu button to subscribe!). I only send my subscribers emails when there are holiday mini sessions and other special events, and rare casting calls that I know they won’t want to miss out on. Once the mini session spots are gone, they are gone. If for some reason there are any available spots after my subscribers have had a chance to grab them, I will then open them up to the general public… but they usually go fast! Spring minis this year sold out in less than 24 hours!
