Adorable baby Grayson was in the studio this morning!! His session was originally scheduled last week but here in Raleigh we had snow that had Wake County Public Schools closed for pretty much the whole week! North Carolina is just not really prepared for snow…ever…because it doesn’t snow here that often. So, even a little snow will cause school closings and hazardous roads (due to lack of equipment to pre-treat roads and plow after it snows). Luckily for my family, we were able to enjoy “the hill” in our neighborhood where everyone gathers for some serious snow sledding! We just moved to this neighborhood in June, so it was new for us but SO much fun (even if at 7 months pregnant I had to stand on the sidelines and watch/take pictures only). I wanted to go down that hill soooo bad!!! ;) Our 3 1/2 year old Dylan LOVED it. Last time it snowed here he was only 3 months old. We also got to build a snowman about 6 ft tall in our front yard (which regretfully, Frosty lost his head today to the 60 degree temps). See how crazy North Carolina weather is???
Luckily, we were able to reschedule so close to our original session that Grayson was still only 11 days old. He was such a little cutie today and I really enjoyed getting to snuggle a baby boy. ;) This particular shot we worked really hard on. I have never photographed a baby with something as big as a soccer ball before, but mom and dad had run it by me before the session so I was able to have some ideas on hand for how we could safely incorporate it. We did a little experimenting and found that this was the easiest and safest way to do it…all snuggled in dads hands and sleeping sweetly. Grayson liked this way the best too. ;) I think it’s such an adorable image because not only is he nestled in daddy’s hands, but it shows just how small he is as a fresh newborn. I know all too well how much he will change in just a few short weeks. Plus, I love doing something for my clients that is meaningful, and I know this shot meant a lot to Grayson’s parents.
Congratulations to this beautiful family on the birth of their baby boy! As always, thank you so much for choosing me as your newborn photographer and entrusting me with the most single precious thing known to you. I can’t wait for their proofing appointment and share Grayson’s final images with them. He had such an adorable awake period during our session (surprisingly just before this shot) that enabled me to capture some of his personality and completely adorable alert face. <3
UPDATE!!! Grayson’s soccer ball image was featured on Best Newborn Photographers!!! So honored!!
