Custom newborn photography provides probably the single most important portrait images you’ll ever have had captured. Your sweet baby will never be so small and new again, then in those first 6-12 days of precious life. From their fresh perfect newborn skin, to their soft downy coat and even their delicate tiny fingers and toes, the images captured during your newborn session are so special and timeless…you will not want to forget a single detail.
Babies change fast. I have had many of my clients tell me how different their baby looks after seeing their images only 2 weeks later!! After the first two weeks of life, baby acne can develop and some babies may even start to lose their precious hair due to the natural release of hormones. During the first two weeks, babies are also still accustomed to the womb and are typically very easy to pose and stay asleep sometimes throughout the entire session! That is why it is crucial that you contact me while you are still pregnant, so that we can ensure a spot when your baby is born.
Newborn sessions are conducted in my cozy home studio located near Brier Creek in Raleigh, North Carolina. We reserve up to 3 hours for your session so that we have time to feed, soothe and cuddle your baby into those sweet poses you see in my portfolio. Your session fee includes everything we’ll need for the session. I have a variety of blankets, wraps, hats, headbands and props to choose from. I absolutely encourage bringing something special (a blanket, hat or other keepsake) that you’d like to incorporate into the session.
My studio will be warm and ready to go as soon as you arrive. A day or two before your session you will receive pre-session instructions on how to help ensure a sleepy baby. I will take the lead and begin posing your baby immediately. As a registered nurse, I support all moms whether breastfeeding, pumping/bottle feeding or formula feeding. I also encourage and offer private breastfeeding images during your session upon request.
