This was a special 1 Year Cake Smash in that everybody joined in! Normally, my Baby Plan Minis are for the baby only to show their growth and milestones. But Riley’s mommy Heather and I have been planning this session for what seems like almost a year now and due to the weather – this is what we came up with! Heather is such a sweet person and a super wonderful fellow small business owner. She owns an awesome baby boutique called Smart Momma, located within minutes of my home studio off Glenwood Avenue. Smart Momma has everything!!!
We ordered Dylan’s crib and furniture from them back in 2010 and they were just incredible. We had our baby registry there as well and I can give a first hand account to their amazing customer service. I highly recommend Smart Momma to any moms…especially those expecting! Their selection is extensive with products ranging from strollers and car seats to breast pumps and nursing supplies. We bought our Ergo Baby Carrier there as well as toys and diaper bags. They also have a cute little toddler area with a train table (our favorite!). My mother in law especially loved our registry there because there were so many unique items and gifts.
Another amazing perk of this boutique is that they offer an array of baby related classes from maternity to postpartum. Baby classes are also categorized by age, making it easy to see what’s to offer for your baby at their current age. Some of my favorite offerings include Baby Signs (a sign language parent workshop), Jammin’ Baby – Music Together, Infant CPR (so important!) and Happiest Baby on the Block (vital teachings to what I do in the studio to soothe newborns!). They also have classes on babywearing and breastfeeding.
Definitely stop by there if you have never been! Make sure to check out some of the work that I have hung there as well. One of these images below will also be decorating their walls shortly. ;) Best part is, Melissa Berg Photography clients get a $10 gift card to Smart Momma at their session. I encourage my clients to swing by on the way home and pick up something they may have forgotten or accidentally left off of their registry.
This session was a little challenging for me as I’ve never photographed more than two children together in my cozy studio. The kids did great (I partly give credit to my husband for entertaining the boys with trains and cars in the living room while we focused on Riley – Dylan loved hanging out with them!)…and Riley absolutely LOVED her cake smash!!! I am so in love with Riley’s tutu (from Smart Momma of course!) and hope to get one for the studio soon. She was so fun to photograph and is such an extremely happy baby as you can tell from her images. Thank you Heather for dropping by the studio! You have such beautiful children!! :)
