This post is really special to me for many reasons. Not only does it document my growth as a photographer, but it documents the first year of Baby Camden’s life (who I am very close to!). I started out with a few hospital photos. I went to visit one of my best friends in the hospital only a day or two after her son was born. I made it a point to bring “my good camera” so that I could capture some fresh images of her brand new baby for her. Then about 4 weeks later, she brought baby Camden to my home studio where I used my current setup for the first time, only using natural light. For me it was a huge milestone in my career as a professional photographer. I was so lucky to have a friend who was willing to trust me with her newborn. That session alone shaped who I am as a newborn photographer today. Had I not been given the opportunity to practice what I had studied so hard, I probably wouldn’t be photographing newborns. I think it’s a scary leap for a photographer considering how precious new life is.
3 Months later, we did an outdoor Fall Family Session. Camden’s personality was finally starting to shine through. He was becoming such a strong and captivating child. Amazing what a difference only 3 short months can make. I am so grateful that I was able to capture Camden at this age.
Then came 6 months at Christmas and I did a mini shoot for his family’s Christmas Card. I mean seriously, this is one of THE cutest things I have ever seen!! Big boy is now sitting up on his own and got his first sweet taste of a candy cane and totally “caught”.
9 Months and he is a completely different human being. Still happy as ever and he’s got a bunch of teeth showing through.
At 11 months, we did a Mommy and Me mini session and I just adore this picture. That sweet baby sure loves his mama!! His hair is blonder and his eyes are still a piercing baby blue.
Do you have your child’s first year captured by a professional? These images are just one example of each of the 5 sessions that took place over the period of a year. Through mini sessions, you don’t have to spend a lot of time to get professional quality images taken. Throughout the month of September, I am opening up my Baby Plan minis to non-baby planners. Meaning, you don’t have to have had a newborn session with me to continue to capture your baby’s first year. You choose as many sessions as you want to document your child’s growth…the more you book, the more you’ll save. Please check out my Baby Plan pricing in the Investment menu under “The Session”.
